Creating a Powerful Brand via Social Media

Creating an identity is essential to building a successful social media presence. What trips up most people is not the paucity, but the plethora, of things that could define your online brand. During the morning half of this class, you’ll write with Cynthia Hartwig, a branding expert, to define your identity in words. You’ll start by looking at yourself the way marketers do; draft an elevator statement; and create a mini-editorial calendar to add focus to what and when you post, whether on your web site, in a blog, or on Facebook and Twitter. In the afternoon, you’ll switch from words to pictures and work with Iris Taboh, graphic designer and photographer extraordinare and Cynthia Hartwig to learn how to make them work together. You’ll practice identifying strong imagery; ways in which gestures and expressions reveal the character of a person; and how a subject’s personality can be revealed through portraiture. iris will demonstrate how to set up an environmental portrait you’ll be proud to show off.

Recommended for people who want to use social media to build their careers.
